The first batch of bread is out of the oven for tomorrow’s produce market. It’s taking place from 11am-2pm at the Kilchoan Community Centre.

As the focus has been on finishing the new bakehouse (or more appropriately, bake shed) there won’t be quite as much stock as usual so come early if you want to grab a loaf.

Up exceedingly early this morning to get everything baked for today’s producer’s market in the Community Centre. Thankfully no-one will ever know how many pain au chocolat there were to begin with!

It seems as though the lovely sunshine has been having an influence on my baking. Today I felt inspired to test out a new baguette recipe. I’m really pleased with the results and now all I need is some cheese and some wine…

Hoping to do a batch of these for the producers’ market this Wednesday.

No, not a Ferrari. It’s my beautiful new Sunmix spiral dough mixer and it’s just arrived. Able to mix up to 10kg of dough, it should help up production no end – or at least it will once I’ve got a bigger oven and the bakery shed’s finished to put them both in!

The Kilchoan Bakery will be opening formally this summer. From then you will be able to place weekly orders for fresh artisan crafted organic bread.

The Kilchoan Bakery is a newly established micro-bakery located on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, Scotland’s most westerly point. We specialise in artisan crafted bread, including sourdough and foccacia, as well as a variety of traditional loaves and fresh pastries. All of the ingredients used are organic wherever possible.

From summer 2017, we will be taking orders for bread.
